Cartier brooch of gold, blue enamel and diamond
Cartier
An iconic 18k gold Cartier brooch of a blue enameled hand with a diamond bracelet, holding a flower with a .25 carat old mine cut diamond in the center. This intriguing motif which owes something of its inspiration to the Surrealist movement was made in a number of variations by Cartier between at least 1937 and 1952. The scale and the composition remained unchanged but in some the flower was of black enamel, or the hand or flower embellished with coral. This brooch is 15.6 grams and measures 4 cm x 2.7 cm.
