It’s not often we get our hands on such a beautifully designed piece by the late René Kern, who worked as a goldsmith and jeweller in Dusseldorf from 1950 to 1979. This one is really a stunner, made of 18K yellow gold, with brilliant cut diamonds set between juicy, round, two-by-two beads of coral and lapis lazuli. This bold combination of salmon-coloured coral and deep blue lapis, brightened by top quality diamonds, is seen often in high end jewellery from around 1970. It makes this bracelet very cute and edgy at the same time.

René Kern (founded 1950) In Dusseldorf in the 1950s, René Kern impresses his customers with uniquely exclusive precious objects, which he designs combining classical and modern elements. René Kern comes from an established family of goldsmiths and learns his craft in Wiesbaden from his father Georg. He moves to Dusseldorf where he establishes his own business. Following the death of his father, René sells a share of the goldsmith business in 1953 to his stepsister Ursula Olschewski-Kern and her husband Johann Strebel. With the opening of the jewellery business on Königsallee in Dusseldorf and until 1979, René Kern is the glamorous address for exceptional and highly uniquely produced pieces of jewellery, and sells internationally prestigious brands of jewellery and timepieces. Among his customers are industrial giants from Germany, as well as the Shah of Persia and King Hassan of Morocco. Having no successor in the family, his health forces him to sell the main store and three additional locations in Germany to the British court jewellers Mappin & Webb, which is also a part of the Garrard Group. In 1994 the Douglas Group takes over, and in 2007 the Swiss family-run business Bucherer, a specialist for timepieces and jewellery, integrates the four René Kern stores.
