With its white enameled wings spread and its ruby eyes staring, this eye-catching brooch is a great conversation piece. Not only because it is a white owl, the most mysteriously beautiful of noctural preying birds. Who knows if the maker also had Hegel in mind, the German philsopher who famously noted that “the owl of Minerva spreads its wings only with the falling of the dusk” (we come to understand a historical condition just as it passes away). Made in Italy around 1970 from white and yellow gold, the brooch was stamped in the artistic town of Turin. This extraordinary piece is destined to bring its owner joy - and perhaps... the wisdom to understand what the world is going through today.
