The most famous parure of the19th century was the Devonshire parure made in the Holbeinesque style by the London jeweler Hancocks to be worn at the Coronation of the Tsaar of Russia in 1856 by Countess Granville as a representive of Queen Victoria. The style became high fashion after the 1862 International Exhibition in London where manyexhibitors displayed “Holbeinesque” pieces.
