An Italian bracelet for jewellery lovers with a strong sense of style. Made of ebony, 18k yellow and white gold and diamonds, this is one of the more demure designs by Attilio Codognato, current owner of the family boutique in Venice, located on a cobblestone street just off the Piazza San Marco. Casa Codognato -since 1866- is somewhat of a secret to the stars. The Duchess of Windsor, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly were clients, as were Ernest Hemingway, Coco Chanel and Maria Callas. During the filming of Death in Venice, Luchino Visconti bought one piece in the shop every day, as gifts. Whether you’re famous or not, wearing Codognato, and maybe Italian jewellery in general, requires confidence. Diana Singer, president of the American Society of Jewelry Historians: “French jewelry is exceptionally elegant, and German is correct, civilized. Italian jewelry tends to be a little over-scale and over the top, which is not a bad thing'it’s a good thing for the person who can carry it off.”
