Dasspeld in 14-karaats goud met lichtgroen geëmailleerd hedera / klimop (ivy) blaadje.

 

Rusland, circa 1900

 

De symboliek van klimop is nauw verbonden met eeuwige liefde en trouw. Dit  gaat terug tot het oude Griekenland, waar klimop werd geassocieerd met Dionysus, de god van de wijn, en zijn geliefde Ariadne. Klimop werd beschouwd als een teken van eeuwige liefde tussen de twee en zou geluk brengen in liefdesrelaties. Deze associatie met eeuwige liefde is vandaag de dag nog steeds aanwezig, soms wordt klimop gebruikt bij bruiloften en soortgelijke ceremonies om de eeuwigheid van de huwelijksliefde te symboliseren.
