Description

A silver buckle with orchid decorations, set with a cabochon-cut amethyst, signed Gaston Lafitte and 'Pariser Salon 1901'. These buckles were worn mid-front at the waist, on a ribbon of silk, velvet, or thin leather. Lafitte was one of the most important designers of French Art Nouveau, along with Henri Vever, Georges Fouquet, Lucien Gaillard, and of course René Lalique.
