Aalst van der Hoolck de Bruijn (1698–1741) was an 18th-century Dutch jurist and magistrate who pursued early Enlightenment ideals. He held influential administrative positions in the city government of Haarlem, where he served, among other roles, as a council member, alderman, and chief magistrate.

In the 18th century, wealthy individuals would include specific instructions and a budget in their wills for the creation of commemorative rings. After their death, close friends and family members would receive such a ring as a gift during the funeral.
