Joanna Brom, 1898-1980. Pendant with necklace in 18K gold, depicting Madonna with child, crown and scepter. Painted enamel in medieval style.
The rectangular pendant of gold with a representation in painted enamel of Mary with Christ on her arm, is decorated with a beautifully carved golden frame and a gold necklace with small seed pearls. The back is hallmarked JB and year 48 (1948).


There is a handwritten letter by Joanna Brom mentioning the sale, dated September 23, 1950. Joanna Wilhelmina Francisca Paula Brom (Utrecht, 8 November, 1898 - Utrecht 29 May, 1980) was trained in Salzburg, Wenen, Berlijn and Leipzig. She worked in the Brom family business until 1958 as goldsmith and enameller. She would decorate the religeous artifacts that were made in the goldsmith atelier: monstrances, chalices, vases, bowls, with enamel. She also made jewellery and miniature portraits in enamel. She was a member of the Genootschap Kunstliefde.

She decorated the religeous artifacts made by the goldsmiths; monstrances, chalices, vases and bowls were decorated in enamel by her. She also made jewellery and miniature portraits in enamel.
