Description
An antique brooch featuring shells from the Architectonica family, also known as 'sundial shells', set in gold. The shells on this brooch most closely resemble the Architectonica Perspectiva, found in the Indo-Pacific Ocean: from East Africa, including Madagascar, the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, to East Polynesia, northwards to Japan and the Hawaiian Islands, and south to southeastern Australia.
England, 19th century
