Located on the Kohlmarkt in the most elegant district of downtown Vienna, the architectural design of the Rozet & Fischmeister store is strongly reminiscent of the Treasury in the Hofburg, the 13th-century former imperial palace in the heart of Vienna. Founded in 1770, Rozet & Fischmeister is one of Vienna’s most famous goldsmiths and silversmiths, now run by the sixth generation. Throughout this time, valuable technical expertise—now rarely practiced—has been passed down. Emperor Franz Joseph, as well as Maria Altmann and the Austrian government, were among their clients. This large butterfly, with its exquisite enamel, diamonds, and ruby-red eyes, was crafted by them around 1901.
